Salary Range: $25.50 – $27.25 per hour


Position Summary

The Tool Crib Attendant is responsible for supporting the production department by maintaining, issuing, and monitoring tooling and equipment required for CNC machining operations. This role ensures accurate inventory control, distribution, timely tool availability, and adherence to aerospace quality standards, helping to minimize machine downtime and keep production running efficiently. The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in inventory management, procurement, and data analysis to support operational efficiency.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the production department’s goals and objectives through effective tool management.
  • Accurately maintain records of issued and returned tools, ensuring traceability and accountability.
  • Locates lost or misplaced tools and equipment.
  • Receive, store, and issue cutting tools, fixtures, and equipment for CNC machining in a production environment.
  • Inspect returned tools for wear or damage and coordinate repair or replacement as needed.
  • Reports damaged and worn-out equipment to supervisors.
  • Verify incoming tools and equipment against purchase orders and requisitions, ensuring quality and accuracy.
  • Unpack, examine, and store new tools and equipment; reject damaged items, document shortages, and communicate with suppliers for resolution.
  • Delivers tools or equipment to workers.
  • Mark and identify tools for traceability and maintain tool calibration schedules.
  • Schedule and track preventative maintenance of tool crib equipment.
  • Cleans and performs simple repairs and services. Lubricates tools and equipment as required.
  • Maintain accurate computer-based inventory records in compliance with AS9100 standards and company procedures.
  • Ensure a secure, organized, and efficient tool crib environment.
  • Communicate effectively with production staff to minimize wait times and machine downtime.
  • Uphold safety and quality standards by following company policies and aerospace industry requirements.
  • Perform cross-functional duties and assist in other areas as requested by management.
  • Work both independently and collaboratively to meet production deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: Minimum 3+ years in a CNC manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge/Skills:
    • Familiarity with CNC machining, cutting tools, and tool crib operations.
    • Proficiency with computer systems for inventory tracking.
    • Understanding of aerospace quality control procedures; ISO or AS9100 experience preferred.
    • ERP/MRP and Purchasing experience (a plus).
    • Ability to read sketches/blueprints (a plus).
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to process tasks accurately with minimal errors.
    • Reliable, adaptable, and capable of adjusting to changing priorities.
    • Effective communication skills for working with internal teams and external vendors.
    • Basic time management and organizational skills.
    • Strong understanding of supply chain management principles.

ITAR Compliance Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, or protected individual under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).
  • Responsible for safeguarding export-controlled technical data in compliance with ITAR and company procedures.
  • Completion of ITAR compliance training and strict adherence to export control protocols required.
